To deny what happened was not an ambush is absurd. Ms. Goodman has been friendly with Norman Finkelstein for years. Norman, a Princeton PHD, has had a hard time getting tenure although I could see his self-righteous arrogance does not help. I have seen that side of him many times. Do not get me wrong...he is brilliant but I do not think the first two minutes out of the box calling Dershowitz a fraud is going to help have a lively debate..instead he picked at his footnotes in an irritating pednatic way. he cited Benny Morris's history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Along with Shlaim, these are good general histories of the tragedy from a Israeli revisionist histprian POV. One could just as easily have thrown Morris back into Finkelstein's face since he has not been too pleased with the Second Intifada and made that notion clear when he was in the US in recent years. the comment on Scarborough and company was hilarious and I must admit added to the end of the show being a game show like format...great radio and hats off to that. but, it is a typical Amy ambush and the importance of getting him back for debate is lost at least for her show. I was to interview him after her for the TV show we do and he initially refused because he was so pissed off over what had happened. he did not know he was walking into a amybush. So while it may be fun for some to high five themselves afterwards the issue is to reach beyond the narrow often masturbatory lefty audience that probably had a grand old time listening to it and seriously reach out to other americans open to much at this critical time.
