Dear KPFT LSB Member,
I remain on mission and will be unable to attend the Nov. 28th meeting.
Therefore, I am seeking a board member(s) to advocate for me at the upcoming
meeting.
Person(s) should be able and willing to respectfully but assertively present
the following to the LSB requesting it delay formally filling my vacated seat
for the following reasons.
1. That all absences occurred as a direct consequence of ?The Action? of
leaving all the comforts of home, family, business and friends to drive 1,350
miles to the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. to seek Safe Harbor and or
Political Asylum in reallyquittingamerica on behalf of the people made in
america.
2. The vacancy will automatically be filled next month by the newly
elected representative.
3. The KPFT LSB should avoid appearing to sanction a member of its own
community that had the guts and courage to ?Take a Stand?, by putting it all on
the line, to advocate for ?His People?, and stand-by his convictions.
4. That the ?Action? undertaken by Emmett Abati Doe represents one of
the best recent examples of pro-active advocacy that trumps talk and marching
coming out of the Pacifica Community in recent times.
As appropriate to present the following draft motion:
Be it here-by resolved, that the KPFT LSB in recognition of the many years of
committed and outstanding service to our Radio Station and the KPFT Houston
Texas Community, by Emmett Abati Doe and in recognition of the many years of
service on committees including for over ten months the New Bylaws/Governance
Committee, and for being elected twice as Chair of the Anti Racism and
Diversity Committee and once as co-chair, and for his 4 years of service on The
BBC Evaluation Committee, and for being the creator and host of the 20 year old
innovative hard-hitting and provocative issue orientated ?On The Real Side?
call in show, and for his willingness to help young adults and producers, and
for being an example for speaking truth to power, and for his acts of courage
to Preserve and Defends the Right of Free Speech. Emmett Abati Doe by his
example is in keeping with the best tradition of KPFT 90.1 FM, The Pacifica
Foundation and The Pacifica Mission.
We commend Emmett Abati Doe and thank him for his many years of service and
we wish him well on his next great endeavor as advocate for His People, the
people made in america.

· At the Septerber 26, 2007 LSB Meeting, Bert
was removed from the Board for having three consecutive unexcused absences.
· Re: Your ceasing to be a member of the Board;
No "fire," No "rush," just a Pacifica Bylaws rule.
· The removal is not by a vote of the LSB.
Removal is mandated by the Pacifica Bylaws. The Pacifica Bylaws, Article
Five, Section 7(C) REMOVAL OF DIRECTORS; specifies that a Director "cease to be
a Director upon the occurrence of any of the following"... "(C) failure of a
Director to attend three consecutive Board meetings, which absences have not
been excused by a majority vote of the Directors present and voting at the
meetings in question."

Richard,
I checked Aug, July, June on-line minutes and Bert Samples had three
non-excused absences; yet his name shows as a current member of the kpft lsb.
Has Mr. Samples been removed because of his three (or more) consecutive
absences? Or do we have an opportunity to have an ARDC exercise?
Since as you pointed out my term ends in Dec. anyway; where's the fire, and
what's the rush?
The LSB can remove. My question is to how can I request of them to allow my
term to conclude with-out an imposed blemish.
When will the Sept. Oct. LSB Minutes get posted.

you have missed "three consecutive Board meetings (August '07, September '07
and October '07), which absences have not been excused"; you have "cease(d)" to
be a member of the Board and the position you filled is open and will be filled
at the November 28, 2007 Regular LSB Meeting. Your request for an excused
absence for the November '07 LSB Meeting is moot.
Also, the term of the position you filled on the Board expires in December,
2007; to be filled by a newly elected Delegate in the current election. Thank
you for your service to the KPFT LSB and all the best in your future endeavors.

Hi Richard,
As you know I've been on a mission since late Aug. that's resulted in my
absence from a number of official meetings.
The intent of my "Action" is compatible with the best history and tradition
of Pacifica and Pro-Active Activism.
I will not be in attendance at the Nov. 26 meeting and request my absence be
excused.
Furthermore, what is the process to request of the LSB that my prior absences
be excused?
