Gosh, I just can't help it. After reading your stories, I just want to
burst out singing the immortal words to that ultimate patriotic song --
God Bless the USA, by America's finest songwriter, Lee Greenwood:
"If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for
all my life, And I had to start again with just my
children and my wife, I'd thank my lucky stars to be
living here today, 'Cause the flag still stands for
freedom and they can't take that away.
"I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free..."
Yessirree, that's what makes this country great, ain't it?!
Hey, I bet that song was a real favorite whenever all the former
Enron employees got together in Houston to strategize for
their class-actions lawsuits. I wonder if ol' Lee ever showed up
in person to console folks.
Kevin -- did you actually work for Enron, or were you just an
indirect victim?

You are right Kevin, and there are countless numbers
of people who lost everything, and are at a point in
their lives where they have no way to ever recover, so
this was not a victimless crime.
Same thing happened to us with the combination of an
unscrupulus lender and a greedy corporation's massive
layoff of everyone nearing retirement age. For us it
was more than just one personal life but of an entire
family of 7. Four of my five children were all in
college at the time and all of them were forced to
drop out. It also caused our close knit, extended
family live separately and for both me and my husband
with serious medical problems to lose our medicial
insurance.
