A Gray Panther in San Francisco writes about his experience yesterday. I heard so many people say they were on the verge of tears yesterday at seeing such huge numbers of people, especially youth. This is indeed a May Day we will remember for years.
I took my newsletter in to be printed yesterday just as the Berkeley parade was going by and the guys in the shop were talking about going to the SF parade. I burst into tears and told them "Now you know what it looks like when old Polish ladies cry." I told them about my uncle riding the rails looking for work at the age of 14.
They are mostly Pakistanis and hispanics. I said we'd wait a day for the newsletter as our contribution to the march, though a lot of our Berkeley Gray Panthers did march.
My son phoned from SF and the march went by the firm where he works. He said he was almost in tears himself. Good Polish genes.
