Can't say as I blame the *real* Panthers for being just a bit annoyed -- no, make that *royally pissed" -- by the bunch of pseudo-radical poseurs who have latched onto their name. Evidently, they never thought to trademark the name (not exactly the revolutionary thing, to be sure) or they could force them to stop using it. http://www.blackpanther.org/newsalert.htm Not surprisingly, the average mainstream reporter has no idea that these guys have nothing to do with the original Black Panther Party. The campus referred to below was undoubtedly North Carolina Central University, the "other" school with students involved in the uproar over the Duke Lacrosse Team rape incident. As if local activists needed any help from the "New Black Panthers". From everything I've seen, they've been doing an excellent job dealing with things, no need for a bunch of gun-toting bozos to drop in uninvited to exploit the situation for their own purposes. As an aside: the one time these guys might have actually done some good (imho) -- when George W Bush and the state of Texas executed Gary Graham back in 2000 -- they totally wimped out. That was their first real national exposure, and they made the least of it (to coin a phrase).
