This exchage seems to be refreshing. We have Nalini Lasiewicz and Carolyn
Birden working toward the mutual goal of saving Pacifica.
This email chain made my weekend. Let's work to make this a habit.
The worm may have turned. Let's save Pacifica.

I did see it and here's what I thought, at the time.....
During the meeting, the 'opposition' to the resolution only spoke
against it. They didn't put forward suggestions on how to reword it.
For instance, the words "recommended procedure" and "no more that 7
days" could have been proposed. That's part of meeting planning...to
know what's coming and to be prepared to fix it. From what I could
tell, most of the Board members didn't have the new wording in front of
them. For that reason alone, it became a messy and complicated process
to try to fix it, I suppose.
btw, box.net is a free service where the latest versions of motions and
documents can be posted and all the PNB can look at the files without
to mess with email. The way I would do it is to set up a folder for
each meeting and have the Agenda, the drafts of motions and any other
documents of interest available.
The first thing that happened was for Bob L. to drop his little
bomb, "you should all have received a letter five minutes ago." If
there was ever a reason to upbraid a Board member for misconduct, that
was it. I heard no one complain about it. These meetings ought to
start on a note of cooperation, not with WAR chants. Bob L really set
the tone for what became a "showdown" sort of meeting. When he ended
the by calling for your removal, that really showed us that the entire
ordeal was a threatrical spectacle, not any serious effort to conduct
business properly or effectively. When you listen the meeting, you'll
also notice the insipid comparisons to "george bush" and other U.S.
government targets -- "we at Pacifica are better than that!". Again,
whenever the PNB members start to draw comparisons with their targets
in the U.S. government, we know that someone has just mounted the soap
box and all we're getting is another pointless speech and rhetorical
personal attack against 'one of our own.' It's like they have hijacked
Pacifica Foundation in order to promote their own political ideas,
wouldn't you say?
