Hi Albert,
Having an outside agency handle our elections would burst the myth of how many
members Pacifica really has. The GMs keep the real number of members a national
secret. To know the real numbers might lead to job endangerment.

Subject: [PacificaRadiowaves] Open Letter on the Tainted 2007-8 WBAI local
Station Board Election
Dear Sara and Cerene and J&U:
Are you the pot calling the kettle black? (And I don't mean
African-American. )
I agree with some of this letter, but it is overlong, biased toward J&U, and
completely fails, as usual, to any J&U efforts to bias the elections, including
the execrable effort to count waivered ballots sent after the deadline. Really
serious disqualifying factors, such as sending ballots by other than
first-class mail and much more imporotantly, failing to do a test mailing six
months before the actual balloting.
I personally am convinced that the only way to have fair elections at
pacifica is for the entire process to be done by an outside agency experienced
not only in accounting but in election supervision. Including doing the test
mailing, and most importantly, *establishing and maintaining the membership and
mailing lists of staff and listener subscribers. * This process must be
handled from beginning to end, all year round, by an outside agency. This
process includes the supervision, recording, possession and storage of pledge
room attendance lists.
In solidarity,
A. Solomon
