Gee Melinda I already won the case. (We Demurred to the Complaint and the
Judge - who was a stanch Republican by the way - dismissed the Complaint
repeatedly saying "What was the crime being alleged again?")
But thank you for your support, Melinda.
So now some of the Pacifica "activists" think that things are crimes that
even Republican Judges know are not crimes and are protected by free speech
rights. Gee not much respect for free speech among some of the Pacifica
"activists" is there?
And apparently some of the Pacifica "activists" think that monitoring of
internet posts without a Warrant is quite all right for the Secret Service to
do and some of the Pacifica "activists" also think that because a person is
accused of something that they MUST be guilty of it even without any proof
whatsoever.
But don't worry because as Pastor Niemoller pointed out (revised edition):
First they came for others and Pacifica "activists said YEA thqat is GREAT but
they will NEVER come for us Pacifica "activists" so restrict free speech as
much as possible - that is in the New Pacifica Mission Statement.
Jim "Maybe some of the Pacifica 'activists' will propose some stronger laws
further restricting free speech and do a show on the need for stronger
restrictions on free speech on Pacifica." D.

You are on your own as far as I am concerned Jim. The title of this email IS
a threat.
You can claim to be as docile as a teddy bear but having a title with such
verbage is
ample reason for you to get a knock on th door. They can't read your mind but
anybody
can read the direction of this.
You need help.

Below is an article that appeared on IndyMedia regarding my arrest in
2007. The article has some inaccuracies (it was the Inglewood police for
instance not the L.A. police) and is not very complete but it does show one
more attempt by the U.S. government to censor and ban (and arrest) those who
propose or discuss things that the government does not want discussed.

Activist Jim DeMaegt Arrested for Alleged Email Threat to Dubya
Jim DeMaegt, Activist
On January 3, 2007, Jim DeMaegt was visited by the Secret Service at his
home in Los Angeles. The Secret Service informed Jim that he was being
investigated for supposedly issuing death threats against President Bush based
on an email he had sent out. Although, the exact email in question is not known
at this time, Jim did send out an email entitled, "Internet Indictment of G. W.
Bush and Call for Hanging Until Dead at the Capitol Rotunda."
The email itself is void of an actual death threat and anyone that knows
Jim will tell you that he is incapable of hanging Bush in the Capitol Rotunda
or anywhere else for that matter. Jim's intent in the email is clearly his
opinion on the verdict rendered against Saddam Hussein for his crimes in Iraq.
In the course of the Secret Service's visit to Jim, he called the LA Police
to have witnesses to the search and seizure taking place and to have the Secret
Service removed from his property; the Secret Service planned to confiscate
Jim's PC and other belongings. In an ironic (though not surprising) twist of
events, the police arrested Jim for obstructing an officer of the law.
Jim is to be arraigned on March 5, 2007 - more details later.
Jim is a long time activist, having worked with Cesar Chavez and other
unions over the past 40 years or more.
In solidarity with Jim
