No, I don't see it as a two street at all... I think the way things are set up --- there is not much outreach to activists at all... the kind of things you are talking about --- is basically playing a power game --- and it is not at all something most activists will be interested in playing with KPFA --- esp. not with the kind of incredibly busy schedules most of us have, holding down full time jobs, and the rest of the time going to other things... The responsiblity for transparency and making the process of change within KPFA an easier and fluid process is the responsibility of those who chose to run for the local boards, and those who are elected to those boards... I do not have the time to do the kind of stuff you described... infact, I've done that been there... it is the kind of internal pacifica politics that made it impossible to continue being involved, unless it was the only thing i'd be doing... that was not worth my time... nor is this process you described. I know how things work in private, and behind the scenes politics... it is precisely to avoid that kind of nonsense that we decided upon something like democracy... unfortunately, those who got elected, did not make the process any easier, and in some cases have made it even more difficult. I'm fully aware of the differing political perspectives, and how they jockey for power ---- that does not make for a community radio station --- it makes it a station that stays in the hands of a few insiders. (of which i choose not to be). Altaf On Jun 4, 2006, at 1:42 AM, Debbie Speer wrote: > > I sure see how all this techno/governance-babble doesn't help answer > many questions.
