I have not given up on Pacifica - my dial is still tuned to 94.1 KPFA ---- At the same time, I honestly do not fully comprehend the various factions and politics 'cause I have not been fully involved for a couple of years now... although I do have intentions of going to a People's Radio radio group that is here in the Bay Area who are attempting bring some life back to the original movement. The thing is, so much of these changes we need to see (such as those identified in the Sam Husseini article I sent earlier) are so bogged down that it is like trying to move a big huge boulder with both hands tied behind one's back... I understand that much of the issues we need to deal with are the same as a few years back... But whenever there have been moves, for example at KPFA - we have life long programmers who've seriously held things back... such as a very basic change of having Democracy Now at 8:00 morning drive time, instead of at 9 --- when most everyone is already at work... This move was approved by the local board, and it never got implemented. When I see such incidents, then it is like I feel that I, as a listener/member, am totally disempowered... that my elected board can't even implement any changes... then who controls the station? Philip Maldory? I think at stations such as KPFA, and others... we need a serious new movement that would be willing to address these kinds of issues head on.
