Actually that formula is not longer making money for the stations. And keep in
mind if you ask people about Pacifica or your local station they don't know
what you're talking about.
We need a new cohesive network with strong national programming.
We need something to attract a new audience as our old audience is abandoning
us.
KPFT is the biggest yawn on the network. Shows where two local guys read
something from the Houston Chronicle and then "open up the phone lines" is not
working anymore. It's just not making bank.
We need to try new approaches. And we don't need petty local GMs telling the ED
that "they'll think about following their instructions and maybe shoot you back
and email."

Kevin,
That all five signal areas have agreed to this indicates that we ARE all on the
same
page here. I wouldn't push to have a Foundation that would dictate to five
diverse
signal areas what is mandiatory to be on the air in their uniquely distinct
signal
areas.
I worked for nine years as a research associate for the Gallup Organization . I
have
spoken with thousands of people over the telephone and in person with people in
every state.Trust me, Americans are not the same. People in Santa Monicaare not
the same kind of people you find in PasadenaTexas. New Yorkers and people from
LA are different too. They have different interests and they want a different
radio programming. Part of the beauty of having community radio in different
cities is that we have the opportunity to have five distinctly different
programming schedules to reach our respective signal areas.
I don't like the idea of a national Foundation dictating to us what we can or
can not play.
It could further alienate the valued people who are our life's blood at KPFT
and all of the
other signal areas. We need, instead to be actively doing outreach into our
signal areas
and finding out what THEY want, not what somebody from another signal area
states that
we should be listening to.

I've googled Impeachment and found nothing in the media.
Pacifica may be the only network making the hearings public. We could really
shine tomorrow.
I do have a couple questions however:
1. Why do the stations get the opportunity to accept or reject broadcasting the
hearings?
2. Is WPFW's response "we're going to give it a listen and decide" good enough?
3. Why is KPFT skipping the introduction? And further, why are they allowed to
skip the introduction?
Is this a network or what? This is the most important event in Pacifica
history. Why is it not mandatory to run the full program?

YEAH!! Now if we could all call Nancy Pelosi today and convince her to press
charges
it would be perfect. I only regret that I didn't get to go to New York to yell
at BAI in person.
I could have had pizza at that cool place about a half a block away too.

Dear All --
Please know that KPFA will be covering this hearing and offering to all five
stations. They will also be paying the cost. Thanks to KPFA -- I did "green
light" it. Thanks also to Larry Bensky for relentlessly bringing this to our
attention!
Per carriage inquiries:
-- KPFA -- running it
-- KPFK -- running it
-- KPFT -- running it but w/ no pre-show
-- WPFW -- going to "give it a listen" to decide
-- WBAI -- message left, no response, but probably very interested (as w/ KPFA,
WBAI is now on summer drive)
Hope you tune in -- you can also pick it up on any of the stations' web streams
who are carrying it.
Not sure about Affiliates.
Thanks, and hope you tune in!

Am I stupid or did I just receive an email from Impeachment. org reporting a
congressional impeachment hearing this Friday, July 25 at 10 AM EST.
I've not heard this from any other sources, but if true, all five stations need
to simulcast it.
