Sheila,

According to Michael Parenti, whose new book "Culture Struggles" is now in
print, we need to be aware that culture is used to divide and distract and
that
the real fundametal struggle is between the ploutocracy and working people.

I recorded his speech at Brecht Forum Friday. It is likely to be a premium
on
the upcoming drive.

Here is an interesting comment from WBAI producer Prairie Miller
(Women's Collective, Women Film Critics Circle, Arts program) about the
BBC doc i suggested people listen to, the one about the Muslim woman
whose filmmaker collaborator was murdered. I asked Prairie if the film
had been covered on WBAI.

I do recall hat the woman was critical of "multiculturalism", and I am
paraphrasing here, saying that it uncritically allowed for the
proliferation of all cultures regardless of whether they were
oppressive, and that those who protested were accused of racism, etc. I
have not seen the film. And, to Fred: I confess, I have not read the
Koran, or the Bible! (only passages) (I am , however, listening to The
Da Vinci Codes, :o) The latter, however, is nothing to joke about, in
the sense that it shows how pop culture has the ear and eye of thee
public to a greater degree than the left.
