Once again, we a greeted to another Nader/Green
Party/whatever run. Yawn. This is one of the reasons
I left the Greens -- too busy wanting to grand stand
in impossible races instead of fighting like hell for
things they can win.
The question becomes if Obama wins, what leg would
this campaign stand on? Obscure votes only the most
ardent political junkies would even know about?
The GP make it a Nader/McKinney ticket so say "Hey we
have negroes too!!", making them no more or no less
cynical than the John McCain floating the idea of the
shoe lady, Condi Rice, getting the VP slot. Also, as
some already mentioned, shouldn't you be a party
member before you demand a slot on the Presidential
ticket?
And after smacking a cop and signing on to the 9/11
Truth movement, McKinney has officially written
herself off as a crank and a loon, too toxic for even
the most ardent progressive pols.
And against a telegenic candidate like Obama, they're
both going to look flat footed.
The Naderites and Greens gone from flies in the
ointment, to minor embarrassments (many Greens voted
no contest and didn't want to ANYONE in '04) to a
running gag, along with running a ham sandwich for
city council.
