Who are the Puerto Rican and Cuban Political Prisoners?
Ben Ramos of Prolibertad will be joining us to explore the tactics and
strategies used against our freedom fighters when confronting/opposing united
states terrorist activities. Join and continue the dialogue on what can be
done for our political prisoners that our in the cross-fires of the US-led
disinformation campaign. Plan on defending our Right and Freedom of
Self-Determination as the "war on terrorism" escalates fear to amass more power
for multi-nationals to exert their agenda on Black and Brown communities and
countries.
Cuban 5:
Not only were they saving Cuban lives by opposing terrorism in Miami , they
were in the service of all humanity. Three of the Cuban Five served in Angola
against South Africa 's invasion. If you know the role that the Cubans played
against apartheid, you can appreciate how truly heroic the Five are. Cuba ,
through its history and internationalism, supported African and Latin American
countries and countries all over the world, to enable the people in those
countries to free themselves and decide their own destinies. For more
information about the case: http://www.thecuban5.org/thecase.html
PR Political Prisoners
During the 1970's and the beginning of the 80's, the prisoners were involved in
community, union, student and political struggles in Puerto Rico and the United
States. They fought for the people's right to high quality, free education.
They worked to create community institutions such as alternative education
programs, child-care centers, health centers, housing cooperatives,
recreational facilities and political organizations. They participated actively
in churches, student groups, unions, professional associations, committees
against repression, campaigns against youth violence and drugs. In summary they
challenged the U.S. political system in many ways. For more information about
their case: http://www.prolibertadweb.com/id2.html
