The Brooklyn Law School Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild Presents
the cuban five and the U.S. role in terrorism against cuba

Wednesday, April 11 at 6 pm
Brooklyn Law School Subotnick Center
11th Floor 250, Joralemon Street

The Cuban Five are political prisoners in U.S. prison, unjustly convicted 
and sentenced
to four life terms for peaceably opposing U.S.-sponsored terrorism and 
defending their country of Cuba. Their ongoing legal struggle has major 
rami. cations in the constitutional right of defendants to an impartial jury 
trial. A 10-min. video will also be shown.

A reception with vegan food and wine will follow.

Speakers:

Gloria La Riva is director of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five,
and president of the Typographical Sector of the Northern California Media 
Workers Union Lo.
39521 (CWA). She was co-editor of the book on Fidel Castro?s speeches, Cuba
at the Crossroads (1997-Ocean Press), and produced the documentary videos
NATO Targets, Workers? Democracy in Cuba (1996), and the award-winning
Genocide by Sanctions: The case of Iraq (1998).

Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, a constitutional rights attorney, is co-founder of
the Partnership for Civil Justice (PCJ), Co-Chair of the National Lawyers 
Guild Mass Defense
Committee, and serves on the Steering Committee of the ANSWER Coalition.

Heidi Boghosian is executive director of the National Lawyers Guild and
co-host of the radio show ?Law and Disorder.?

The case of the Cuban Five is an organizational priority for the Guild and
many of its attorneys who submitted amicus briefs on constitutional
violations in their trial. She is traveling to Cuba in April to conduct
research and in-person interiews about the Five.

600 people have signed petitions and sent letters demanding that the New 
York Times publish an article on the Cuban 5, yet we have seen nothing!! We 
have picketed and protested and have been ignored!!

It is time to go back down-town and knock on their doors AGAIN!! WE WILL NOT 
REST UNTIL WE SEE AN ARTICLE PUBLISHED ON THE CUBAN 5!!

If the Washington Post, USA Today, The LA Times and the Daily News can cover 
the Cuban 5, then so can they!!
