If you go to a yahoogroups list on the web, you can delete your
own messages only, unless you are a moderator or the owner, in which
case you can delete anyone's.
You can check under Management to see if members have added or
changed their email addys, or go to the members list and look at the
members' profiles.
Or you could just ask everyone who asks to join for a real name
and a real address or telephone number, and use those to cross-check
new folks to make sure they are not the people you just took off the
list for violating some basic policies. This takes a bit of
time, and waiting for a reply from applicants, but is worth it - at
least you know who is on the list.
