RE: [NewPacifica] The Civil War @ Pacifica

Hey, guys -- Sorry I wasn't able to reply to Richards' post last night,
but I think perhaps I can clear up the confusion here. (Had to help
my wife with a very important workshop she's doing on childhood
trauma and the developing brain. I wonder if there's some way to
get it on the air at KPFA.)

I didn't catch the phrase "civil war at Pacifica", but right at the end
of Friday's KPFA evening newscast I heard them talking about
the program scheduled for MONDAY's Morning Show at 8 a.m.
They definitely said that Pacificia historian Matthew Lasar will be
one of the scheduled guests. I'm sure they mentioned another
name, as well, but it just didn't stick.

Yes, I heard the program and you're right re the discussed topics and
Bensky's absence. The gal who substituted, I don't recall her name offhand,
works somewhere else in KPFA.

A few months back Bensky did have a segment on Pac's uncivil war but
there wasn't much depth to it. Helpful though.

As for today I'm totally confused. Friday evening I had the station on low
while engaged otherwise and heard the announcement which is why I almost
immediately sent that days post. At this time all I can say is I either had
an aural illusion or the station pulled the topic....possibly off the first
hour.

I don't know, either I'm totally messed up or at the station a conspiricy
came to fruition. Oh, oh. :) /R

Richard, I am nearly certain that KPFA aired a program about the death
penality the first hour, that is what was featured as being on air on
www.KPFA.org. The moderator, Susan ___?, (Larry Bensky is on vacation)
who I heard in the second hour, a program about "grammer" also did refer
to the first hour as being on the death penality. The first hour wasn't
posted on the achives when I looked.

It would be interesting to hear such a program, but I doubt that it would be
presented or moderated in an unbias manner. In fact, it might be impossible.
Having two separate programs, each presenting their view, might be all that
could be hoped for.
