Uh, read Elaine Pagels on how some very early writings were accepted by an imperialist church, and some rejected.  Some of the left out stuff is pretty interesting, and very old.  I'm going on about this in my sister's memory.  I think Jesus was a leftist hippy, not a God.  Read Pagels and Karen Armstrong, and then I can quit the thread.

Richard, the bible wasn't written until after Rome became christian, not the other way around.
