If one has made a system backup at some earlier time and then at some later time discovers there system was compromised HOW does one know they backup they use to reinstall system isn't itself compromised in some way? Reinstalling software, setting up config files, etc. would be a major pain compared to just reinstalling a backed up copy of the system. And then what about user data.
